Howard described how the second year of the Club Championship, co-ordinated by Ian Millward, once again proved successful and encouraged members to compete in various local organised races.  Awards were presented to the winners as pictured.

Paul Mannion saw yet another fantastic year and was presented, for the second year running, with the Runner of the Year Award due to his achievements of finishing first in three events; the Parwich Hill Race, the Ashbourne Half Marathon and Men’s Open Championship category.

Awards were also presented to the Men’s Novice winner Gabriel Hutchings, Men’s Veteran winner Alasdair Duncan, Most Improved Male was Bill Mitchell, Women’s Open winner was Caren Coonan who was also the first local female in the Ashbourne Half Marathon, Women’s Novice Winner was Lisa Lee, Women’s Veteran winner was Janice Clowes and the Most Improved Female was Catriona Archer.  Two final awards were presented to Steve Gray for Sportsperson of the Year for his enthusiasm and representation of the club at many and varied events throughout the year and to Simon Fisher for winning the club Local Handicap Race.

Thanks were also given to Charles Pratley and committee members, past and present, for the work that is done to help maintain the club’s success.

The night then concluded with a disco and raffle draw.
